Regions - Gauteng & Central Regions (G & CR)

Projects

1. SDC and Labour Capacity Building

The regional office is currently executing a capacity building project for members of Skills Development Committees and Labour representatives (shop stewards) of our member organisations. The training covers key CHIETA processes around the implementation of skills development and is based on some of the current SDF unit standards. The Regional Skills Advisors, upon request from a member company, deliver the training of members of Skills Development Committees while the regional manager facilitates the training of shop stewards. Depending on the level of understanding of skills development practices the training can be over one, two or three days. All training is non-credit bearing.

2. SDF Training

The CHIETA is currently rolling out a project for the training of 40 Skills Development Facilitators in the region. The SDFs will be training against the seven current unit standards. As this training is credit bearing, an external service provider will be contracted to deliver the training. Skills Development Facilitators of our member companies will be invited to apply to be considered for this training.

3. Stakeholder Meetings

The Regional office is responsible for organising meetings and activities of the Broad Regional Forum. All HR Managers, Skills Development Facilitators, Training Managers, Labour Representatives, Training Providers and Employer Organisations in the Chemical Sector are invited to attend. The purpose of the Broad Regional Forum is to provide a vehicle of communication between the CHIETA and key regional stakeholders. The next Broad Regional Forum gatherings will be held on 13 and 15 February 2007 in Gauteng and Sedibeng respectively.
