Overview

Housed in Cape Town, the Western/Northern Cape CHIETA Regional Office (known as the Southern Pillar Office) serves the Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces.

Core activities:

• Capacity building/training for  Skills Development Committees, Labour and career guidance teachers
• Assistance in the compilation of Workplace Skills Plans/Training Reports
• Assistance with the drawing of  Discretionary Grants applications
• Assistance in the implementation of the Workplace Skills Plans
• Preparation of Providers for accreditation and or programme approval
• Monitoring learner progress
• Information dissemination
• Database of companies, providers, labour unions, learners, assessors and verifiers
• Stakeholder consultationsProjects implementation

Regional Forums/Structures

• Broad Regional Stakeholder Forum (consultative platform open to all stakeholders and critical interest groups in the Region) – meets three times a year
• Regional Coordinating Committee (consultative structure comprised of elected representatives of labour, business and providers) – meets bimonthly
• Provider Forum (consultative forum open to all relevant Regional based public and private providers) – meets bimonthly
• Labour Organisations Forum (consultative forum comprised of representatives of all labour organisations in the Chemical Industries Sector) – meets bimonthly
