1. 1000 CHEMICAL OPERATIONS LEARNERSHIPS PROJECT

In June 2005, the National Skills Fund awarded the CHIETA a grant to implement a special project that had been designed to allow the CHIETA to meet its obligation to historic beneficiaries that were reached through the 2002-2004 NSF ABET community-based project, and through this route, enhance these learners’ potential for successful placement, or further education and training opportunities. 1000 learners have been recruited and are in the process of being trained on the Chemical operations Level 1 learnership.

2. 30 HET LEARNERSHIPS PROJECT

In June 2005, the NSF awarded the CHIETA a grant to implement 30 HET Learnerships for learners that had been part of the old NSF Science, Education and Technology bridging programme from matric into HET. This project takes place in association with the Durban Institute of Technology (DIT) and Vaal University of Technology.
